OSOGBO, OSUN STATE — The Ede Muslim Council, on behalf of the Muslim Ummah of Edeland, has congratulated Governor Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke on his re-election as Governor of Osun State, describing the victory as a blessing from Allah and a renewed mandate from the people.
The Council also congratulated His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa I, the Timi of Edeland, on the electoral success of his son, Governor Adeleke, the Asiwaju of Edeland.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Engr. Dr. Musbaudeen Olatunde Idris, the Council expressed gratitude to Allah for the peaceful outcome of the election and commended the people of Osun State for exercising their democratic rights.
The Council urged Governor Adeleke to see his second-term mandate as a sacred responsibility and to govern with justice, sincerity and the fear of Allah.
It cited Qur’an 4:58, which commands believers to “render trusts to whom they are due” and to judge between people with justice, as well as the prophetic injunction contained in Sahih al-Bukhari 893 that every person is a shepherd and will be held responsible for those under their care.
“Continue your good work with sincerity, justice and fear of Allah. Let the ‘Bulldozer’ spirit continue to break barriers of underdevelopment, while the ‘Imole’ continues to shine on every part of Osun State,” the Council said.
The Muslim body urged the governor to prioritise infrastructure, education, healthcare and workers’ welfare, particularly by ensuring that the benefits of government reach communities at the grassroots.
It further called on the administration to uphold justice and fairness regardless of religion, ethnicity or political affiliation; sustain religious harmony; carry Muslim scholars, Christian leaders and other faith leaders along in governance; and intensify youth empowerment and security initiatives.
The Council pledged the continued prayers and support of the Muslim community of Edeland for the Adeleke administration.
“We pray that Allah grants you wisdom, sound health and barakah in this second term so that Imole Osun will shine brighter for the benefit of all,” the statement added.
Council Commends Timi of Edeland
The Ede Muslim Council also extended its felicitations to the Timi of Edeland, Oba Dr. Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa I, describing his fatherly role, wisdom and prayers as important to the peace and development of Edeland and Osun State.
“Baba, we give glory to Allah for this victory, and we commend your fatherly role, wisdom and prayers which have continued to foster peace, unity and progress in Edeland and Osun State at large. Your support for good governance is a blessing to our land,” the Council said.
The Council noted that as Governor Adeleke prepares to commence his second term in November, it remains committed to praying for continued harmony between the traditional institution and the government for the development of Edeland and the state.
It also prayed for the Timi’s long life, sound health and continued peaceful reign.
“May Allah grant you long life on the throne in good health and continue to use you as an instrument of peace and progress for Edeland,” Dr. Idris said.
