Dr. Anthony Olabiyi Odunlade says the Adeleke administration is expanding global engagement with Osun indigenes while showcasing the state's development agenda

OSOGBO – The Osun State Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening engagement with Osun indigenes living abroad, describing the initiative as a key component of Governor Ademola Adeleke's governance approach aimed at ensuring citizens feel the impact of government regardless of where they reside.
Speaking in an interview with Oriontimes News in Osogbo on Wednesday, the Osun State Commissioner for Political Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations, Dr. Anthony Olabiyi Odunlade, said the administration believes regular interaction with citizens in the diaspora is essential for inclusive governance and sustainable development.
According to him, the government, through the Imole Campaign Council (TICC) and its Diaspora Mobilisation Committee, has intensified efforts to engage Osun indigenes across the United States, Canada and other parts of the world, keeping them informed about developments in the state while encouraging them to contribute to its growth.
Odunlade said the forthcoming Homecoming Summit is designed to reconnect Osun indigenes abroad with their homeland, giving them the opportunity to witness ongoing projects and developmental strides under the Adeleke administration firsthand.
"Everybody who has an interest in Osun should be ready to come home. The essence of the Homecoming Summit is for them to see the transformation taking place and encourage the governor to do even more," he said.
The commissioner acknowledged that previous administrations made efforts to establish contacts with Osun communities abroad but noted that sustained engagement had been limited. He added that the current administration has adopted a more structured approach to maintaining communication and collaboration with the diaspora.
He also disclosed that the government receives reports of alleged intimidation, victimisation and other challenges faced by some Osun indigenes in foreign countries. According to him, the Diaspora Committee works with Nigerian and Osun community organisations abroad to verify such reports and determine appropriate interventions.
Odunlade explained that government support is not limited to financial assistance but also includes maintaining communication with affected individuals, understanding their challenges and ensuring that relevant authorities are informed to facilitate necessary interventions.
Commenting on the political climate in the state, the commissioner expressed confidence that Governor Ademola Adeleke's performance would resonate with the electorate, arguing that the administration's developmental projects are visible across Osun State.
He maintained that the government's focus remains on delivering governance and strengthening the relationship between Osun State and its citizens both at home and in the diaspora.
