UK: Nigel Farage Proposes Deporting Convicted Foreigners to Serve Prison Terms Abroad

 Oriontimes News Desk| August 11, 2026

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has unveiled plans to deport foreign criminals from British prisons if his party wins power, arguing that the move would ease pressure on the country's overcrowded prison system.

Under the proposal, foreign offenders could be returned to their countries of origin or transferred to third countries, including potentially El Salvador or Kosovo, to complete their sentences.

Reform UK says the policy would free up prison spaces in Britain, while critics have raised questions over the legal, diplomatic and human-rights implications of sending prisoners to foreign jurisdictions.
