OSOGBO — Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has appealed to voters in Osun State to support the African Democratic Congress (ADC), recalling his previous visits to the state and the electoral support he received from its people.
Speaking during his campaign appearance in Osun, Atiku said it was the fourth time he had stood before the people of the state, stressing that they had consistently supported him at the polls.
He recalled campaigning for Governor Ademola Adeleke and later for his own presidential bid, during which he said he defeated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Osun State.
“My fellow Osun citizens, this is the fourth time I am standing on this podium, and each time I stood here, you gave me your votes. I cannot forget that.”
Atiku also appealed to the electorate to reciprocate the relationship by voting for the ADC in the forthcoming election.
“I came here for the current governor, and I pleaded with you to support him, and you voted for him. I came here for my presidential campaign, and you voted for me, and I defeated Bola Ahmed Tinubu in this state,” he said.
He added: “I have come today to appeal to you again to vote ADC.”
The former vice president's remarks come as political parties intensify their campaigns ahead of the Osun governorship election, with the ADC seeking to strengthen its presence in the state and challenge the established political blocs.
