Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming the state into an industrial hub, as he hosted investors exploring opportunities in the sports industry.
The governor stated this while receiving a delegation led by Dr. Bob Olukoya, Country Director of Alive and Kicking Nigeria Limited, and Mrs. Joanne Macrae, Director of Amos Sports Business School, London and Business Development Director of Alive and Kicking Nigeria Limited,at his London residence.
Adeleke highlighted the investment-friendly policies and programmes of his administration, assuring the investors that the Osun Free Trade Zone is ready to accommodate businesses and provide a conducive environment for investment.
Accompanied by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, the governor directed the ministry to treat the investors’ submission with urgency, stressing that Osun was “in a hurry for industrialisation.”
Earlier, the investors disclosed plans to establish a football manufacturing factory in Osun State to produce footballs for the Nigerian, African and global markets.
The delegation also revealed that the company’s application for land at the Osun State Free Trade Zone had already been processed, with preparations reportedly underway for work to commence at the allocated site.
Beyond manufacturing, the investors informed the governor of plans to establish a football talent academy aimed at identifying, training and developing young footballers from Osun for opportunities in local and international leagues.
The firm also highlighted the wider economic opportunities within the sports business sector and pledged to submit a detailed proposal on its planned talent-hunt programme.
The meeting underscores the state government’s efforts to attract private-sector investment while expanding Osun’s economic base beyond its traditional reliance on the civil service.
