The Imesi-Ile High School Alumni Set of 2006 has appealed to Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, to take immediate and decisive action to resolve the longstanding issue of erratic electricity supply in the historic town of Imesi-Ile.
In a statement issued by the alumni association, the group expressed grave concern over the persistent power outages that continue to affect residents, institutions, and economic activities in the community.
“We vividly recall that during our secondary school days, stable electricity was nearly non-existent. There were periods when we experienced complete blackouts for an entire month, making it extremely difficult to study or function effectively,” the statement read.
The group decried the lack of progress in resolving the power crisis, noting that the situation remains largely unchanged decades later. “It is disheartening that this level of infrastructural neglect has continued unabated. The absence of any meaningful improvement in the town’s electricity supply reflects a broader systemic failure that demands urgent government intervention.”
Mr. Komolafe Taiwo, a lecturer and the current Welfare Director of the alumni association, further highlighted the severity of the issue. “Electricity is rarely supplied to us. In many cases, we have to rely on power generated from nearby Ibokun. There appears to be a deliberate marginalization in electricity distribution,” he said.
The alumni association emphasized that stable electricity is essential for the growth of education, small and medium-scale enterprises, healthcare, and the overall quality of life in Imesi-Ile. They urged Governor Adeleke to treat the matter as a priority and implement sustainable, long-term solutions for the benefit of the town and its future.
