At the Ansar-Ud-Deen Mosque in Sabo, Osogbo, the Osun State capital, the Muslim Political Awareness Front (MUPAF) convened on Saturday 27th Sept, 2025, for a candid conversation on the place of Muslims in the state’s politics and Nigeria at large.
Delivering her address, proprietress of Molek Schools and Mother of the Day at the event, Alhaja Funmilayo Adeniyi, emphasized that the future of Muslim political relevance lies in education and values. She charged all women to build a home strengthened by knowledge and God's fear.
“We must give our children quality education, Quranic knowledge, and also allow them to participate in politics. Every woman must build a home in Allah's guild,” she urged,
She however, urge MUPAF to look beyond mere grievances and pursue sustainable empowerment through learning and strategy, warning that sentiments without planning would keep Muslims at the margins of political power.
The programme which was described as a “frank talk,” highlighted the recurring sense of marginalization felt by Muslims in Osun politics despite their numbers.
Speakers underscored the need for a united front, disciplined organization, and a deliberate push for inclusion in governance.
MUPAF leaders echoed the call, noting that unity of purpose, civic engagement, and political education remain the strongest tools to ensure Muslims are not sidelined in the democratic process.
The gathering closed with renewed resolve to move “beyond sentiments” and chart a pragmatic course for Muslim participation in state and national politics.
