Accord Osun Seeks Clarity on Appointments, Elections After PDP Alliance

 

Osogbo, Osun State| January 15, 2026



The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to provide clear explanations regarding political appointments, electoral opportunities, and the future of the party following its alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).



In a New Year message jointly signed by key state executives, Accord Osun congratulated Governor Adeleke on the progress of his administration and reaffirmed its support for his leadership. However, the party expressed growing concern over what it described as unresolved agreements and uncertainty surrounding the alliance.




“We are wholeheartedly in support of Your Excellency and ready to work for and with you,” the statement read. 

“However, we must remind you of the promises made to our party, and we are becoming increasingly impatient about when these promises will be fulfilled.”




The party raised alarm over claims that its former chairman had allegedly signed off Accord’s structures from ward to state level-to the PDP, a move the leadership said was done without the consent of members.

“We say no to this,” the statement declared, insisting that Accord remains an independent political entity and not a subsidiary of any other party.



Accord Osun also rejected plans to appoint coordinators across local governments without a formal agreement or consultation with existing party members. The party alleged that the caretaker committee, led by Pastor Victor, was planning to impose coordinators statewide, a move it described as unacceptable.



“We are the landlords. We must be consulted and considered if anything must be done within our party,” the leadership insisted.

Beyond structural concerns, Accord Osun directly questioned the benefits of the alliance, particularly in terms of appointments and opportunities for its members to contest elective positions in future elections.



“It is important to ask Mr. Governor: what do you have for us for taking over our party?” the statement queried.



State Organising Secretary, Hon. Yakub Olayinka, emphasized that political parties are collective institutions and not personal properties to be handed over or test-run by any individual or group.



The statement was jointly endorsed by Oladapo O. Joseph (State Treasurer), Babalola Tolulope (State Youth Leader), Alhaji Nasiru Bolarinwa (State Secretary), Alhaja Rukayat Olanrewaju (Women Leader), and Adedayo Daniel Oluwole (State Publicity Secretary).



The party urged Governor Adeleke and relevant stakeholders to engage in dialogue to clarify the terms of the alliance and ensure mutual respect, inclusiveness, and political fairness going forward.
