The engagement is being convened by Ambassador Ade Mario Emmanuel, Director-General of CONYSSA.

The event comes amid continuing concerns about electoral violence, public safety and the need for cooperation among citizens, security agencies and electoral institutions to protect democratic participation.

Through the engagement, CONYSSA aims to draw attention to the shared responsibilities of citizens and security agencies in preventing violence, safeguarding the electoral process and creating an environment in which voters can participate without intimidation.

Electoral violence remains a significant concern for democratic governance because threats, intimidation and physical attacks can undermine citizens’ participation and confidence in elections. Effective prevention requires coordination among security agencies, electoral authorities, political actors, civil society organisations and local communities.

The Akure engagement is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss practical approaches to addressing these challenges while strengthening collaboration on national security and public safety.
