2027 Realignment: Kwankwaso Dumps NNPP, Joins ADC in Strategic Political Move

 

In a significant development ahead of the 2027 general elections, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress.



Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State and one of Nigeria’s most influential northern political figures, completed his registration with the ADC on Monday at the historic Kwankwasiyya House in Kano.


The move signals a major political realignment and is expected to reshape coalition dynamics as parties and power blocs begin early positioning ahead of the 2027 elections.


Observers believe Kwankwaso’s defection could strengthen the ADC’s national appeal, particularly in the North, where he commands a loyal grassroots following through the Kwankwasiyya movement.


Although the former NNPP flagbearer has yet to publicly outline his full agenda within the ADC, political analysts suggest that his entry into the party may be part of broader consultations aimed at building a formidable opposition coalition.
