Nigeria Is Not Owned by Anyone—Except Those Who Build Her

On this Democracy Day, I had intended to rest my pen. I wanted to leave the fate written on the walls of history to speak for itself. I thought perhaps the sacrifices of those who fought for democracy were enough testimony. Yet, in the final hour, a thought stirred within me, compelling me to write a message to all of us who have come together to form this sovereign nation called Nigeria. My message is particularly for those who believe that the business of Nigeria lies in the hands of a powerful few. Perhaps they are influenced by what the German sociologist Robert Michels described as the "Iron Law of Oligarchy" ,the tendency for power to concentrate in the hands of a small elite. Gov Adeleke Challenges APC Candidate Oyebamiji on Records of Service

 OSOGBO – 21/03/2026 Reported by OrionTimes | Source: Osunstate.gov.ng

Governor Ademola Adeleke has challenged the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to answer questions about his records of service, asking: “Is Bola afraid of his past?”

Speaking at the Government House during Eid al-Fitr celebrations,

Governor Adeleke recalled that he personally responded to over 20 questions from the opposition within hours. In contrast, he said, Oyebamiji has remained silent on 30 queries concerning his tenure at the Osun Investment Company, the Finance Ministry, and Inland Waterways.

“Osun people deserve transparency and answers about state assets and their management while Bola was in office. Why is he afraid of coming clean?” the governor asked.

Governor Adeleke also highlighted his administration’s achievements over the past three years, emphasizing his five-point agenda for sustainable development. He noted that while his scorecard is public, Oyebamiji has yet to present any concrete agenda.

Among the governor’s accomplishments:

• Best state in the Southwest for healthcare access

• Ranked 7th nationally in examination performance, up from 33rd under APC

• Reduced state debt by over 40%

• Cut infrastructure deficit by 40%

• Recognized as a top 10 state in digital economy

Governor Adeleke concluded that Osun citizens prefer continuity and would not trust a candidate with unresolved questions about past performance.
