MUPAF Endorses AMBO for Governor, Launches Political Dawah Warriors for Grassroots Mobilisation

The Muslims Political Awareness Forum (MUPAF) has officially endorsed the governorship aspiration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), while inaugurating a special group known as the Political Dawah Warriors to embark on mosque-to-mosque sensitisation ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.

 

The endorsement was announced during the Muslim Ummah in Politics programme organised by MUPAF, which brought together Islamic leaders, political stakeholders, and members of the Muslim community.

Addressing the gathering, the Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomoso, Imam Yunus Olushina Teliat (Ayilara II),

urged Muslims to actively participate in the electoral process and ensure that their collective interests are represented through democratic engagement.

According to the respected cleric, Muslims have historically made significant contributions to political development but often fail to reap the benefits of their efforts.

"It is common among Muslims to do things for the sake of Allah, but the leader we are supporting is also pursuing leadership with the fear of God," he said.

Imam Teliat further encouraged Muslims across the state to articulate their expectations from political leaders and remain committed to exercising their civic rights.

"I do not joke with my Permanent Voter Card (PVC). All my relatives, including my mother who is about 90 years old, have their PVCs. I do not support scholars who tell people not to vote. If you do not vote, how will you have a voice?" he asked.

He added that while Muslims often make meaningful impacts in politics, individuals who contribute little frequently become the ultimate beneficiaries of those efforts.

Also speaking at the event, the wife of the APC governorship candidate, Mrs. Oyebamiji, said the Muslim community had consistently demanded a leader with integrity, humility, and the fear of God.

"You asked us to present a candidate who fears God, who will defend your interests and who is not selfish. As someone who is close to him, I can confidently tell you who he is. Today, we present AMBO to you," she said.

She emphasised that the campaign would focus on winning support through persuasion and the ballot box rather than confrontation.

"We are not going to fight; we are going to speak with our votes," she declared.

In his remarks, APC governorship candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) expressed appreciation to the MUPAF Coordinator, Comrade Lukman Obenbe, and members of the organisation for their support.

Declaring himself a member of MUPAF, Oyebamiji assured the gathering that his administration would uphold fairness, inclusiveness, and democratic values if elected.

"I assure you that nobody will use me to abuse or marginalise you. I will ensure equality, balance, and true democracy," he said.

Referencing recent political developments in neighbouring Ekiti State, the APC candidate urged supporters to remain committed to the cause, expressing confidence that victory would be achieved through collective effort.

"We have seen the outcome in Ekiti. Let us continue to work together. The coming administration will not be built on treachery but on trust, fairness, and service to the people," Oyebamiji stated.

The event also witnessed the inauguration of the Political Dawah Warriors, a mobilisation initiative aimed at engaging Muslim communities across mosques and grassroots levels to promote political awareness, voter participation, and civic responsibility ahead of the election.
