Cleric says believers cannot be possessed by Satan after salvation, urges total consecration and deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit.
The Senior Pastor of Hills of Purpose International Ministry, Pastor Oyeleye Solomon, has called on Christians to place greater emphasis on spiritual growth and consecration rather than pursuing instant miracles, stressing that genuine transformation begins in the spirit.
Delivering his sermon during the church's Sunday service on July 12, 2026, the cleric explained that the spirit operating within an individual ultimately determines the character and lifestyle that person displays.
According to him, God works through the believer's spirit, which influences the soul before manifesting outwardly in the body.
"The spirit that's working in you is what will determine the character you will exhibit," he said.
Pastor Solomon maintained that the moment a person genuinely gives his or her life to Christ, Satan loses permanent access to the believer's spirit.
"A child of God cannot be possessed by demons, but such a person can still be influenced if care is not taken. Satan is evacuated from your spirit the moment you surrender your life to Christ," he stated.
The preacher further declared that the greatness many people seek is already deposited within them by God, adding that the devil's objective is to influence believers from the outside in an attempt to gain control over their lives.
Speaking on Christian maturity, Pastor Solomon identified consecration as a vital ingredient for spiritual development, citing Galatians 5:5-6 to emphasise that faith works through love and must be nurtured by a life of dedication to God.
Drawing lessons from the life of Moses, he warned against seeking positions of authority without first embracing the spiritual discipline required to sustain leadership.
"If you want to make me a king just to serve you, you are putting me in trouble," he said while referencing Moses' experience in the Scriptures.
He also lamented that many believers desire quick miracles without aspiring to attain the spiritual depth demonstrated by their pastors and spiritual mentors.
According to him, the primary assignment of the Holy Spirit is not merely to perform miracles but to guide believers into truth and empower them for victorious living.
"The Holy Spirit leads believers in every endeavour. When your faith in God fails to grow, your transformation will be minimal," he noted.
Concluding his message, Pastor Solomon described concentration as a source of spiritual power, urging Christians to remain focused on God's purpose while drawing attention to the teachings of Ephesians 5:20-33 as a guide for victorious Christian living.
The sermon challenged worshippers to pursue inward transformation, deepen their relationship with God, and allow the Holy Spirit to shape their character rather than relying solely on outward signs and miracles.
