OSOGBO – The Imole Campaign Council has dismissed allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that Governor Ademola Adeleke attacked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that the governor merely appealed to the President to ensure a free, fair and peaceful governorship election in Osun State.

In a statement issued on Monday by its Director General, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, the campaign council described the APC's interpretation of Governor Adeleke's remarks as a misrepresentation of his position.

According to the council, Governor Adeleke's comments were a passionate appeal to President Tinubu, whom it described as "the father of all," to intervene in the security situation in Osun and ensure that democratic processes are protected ahead of the state's governorship election.

The council maintained that the governor neither attacked nor insulted the President but called on him to direct relevant authorities to address what it alleged were recurring incidents of political violence, intimidation and repression in the state.

It further alleged that members of the Accord Party had suffered attacks in recent months, claiming that seven members had been killed, more than 20 sustained gunshot injuries, while over 60 members were being held in what it described as illegal police detention.

The statement also referenced the 2022 governorship election, alleging that several supporters of Governor Adeleke lost their lives during the electoral period and that perpetrators were not prosecuted.

On the local government crisis, the campaign council reiterated its position that funds belonging to local government councils had been mismanaged by what it described as illegal APC occupants, urging President Tinubu to intervene and ensure compliance with legal processes.

Responding to allegations by the APC regarding the state's finances, the council defended the Adeleke administration, stating that Osun had received recognition for budget transparency and audit responsiveness while maintaining that the government operates a transparent and accountable system.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the council's confidence in the Adeleke administration's governance record and reiterated its call for peaceful, credible and violence-free elections in Osun State.

The statement was signed by Akogun Lere Oyewumi, Director General of the Imole Campaign Organisation, and dated August 4, 2026.
