OSUN DECIDES 2026: LIVE FROM THE POLLING UNITS
AYEDIRE, OSUN — The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Osun West, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has called on voters and supporters of all political parties to maintain peace as voting continues in the Osun State governorship election.
Ogunbiyi made the appeal shortly after casting his vote on Saturday, describing the conduct of the election in his area as peaceful and orderly.
He commended the timely arrival of electoral materials and the early turnout of voters, noting that the large number of voters at polling centres across Ayedire Local Government Area was encouraging.
The APC candidate expressed optimism that the peaceful atmosphere would be sustained through the conclusion of voting, collation and announcement of results.
Ogunbiyi also expressed confidence that the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, would emerge victorious, citing the large turnout of voters across the local government.
«“My expectation is that APC will win hands down, massively. You can see the mammoth crowds here. Look at every polling centre in Ayedire. With these mammoth crowds, I know that this is for APC, by the special grace of God,” he said.
However, Ogunbiyi urged voters not to allow political differences to degenerate into quarrels or violence, stressing that residents remain members of the same communities regardless of their political affiliations.
“My message to the people is to remain peaceful. There is no need to quarrel. We are all members of the same community, and of course, we can have different political interests,” he said.
“There is no need to fight, there is no need to quarrel. Just maintain the peaceful atmosphere until the exercise is over.”
Ogunbiyi further stated that his immediate political priority was to work towards the victory of Oyebamiji, adding that his own political ambition would be pursued at the appropriate time.
