OSUN DECIDES 2026: LIVE FROM THE POLLING UNITS
IWO, OSUN STATE — The Director of Media and Publicity of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Tunde Ramon, has commended voters in Iwo for what he described as an impressive turnout and peaceful conduct during the ongoing Osun State governorship election.
Ramon, who spoke after casting his vote at Ward 1, Isale Oba, said the turnout demonstrated a high level of political awareness among residents and expressed pride in the conduct of the people of Iwo.
“I haven't seen a turnout like this in recent times. It shows the level of awareness of our people. I am proud to be a citizen of Iwo-land and proud of the way our people are conducting themselves,” he said.»
He said there had been no major difficulty with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) at his polling unit, describing the election as an opportunity for Osun residents to determine the direction of the state.
According to him, voters are taking their destiny into their own hands and demanding a change in the leadership of the state.
Ramon attributed what he described as the challenges of the past four years to poor governance and alleged concentration of resources in a particular part of the state.
“What has happened in the last four years is because we're having dividends of bad governance, where resources are channelled to a particular town. It is time for a reset. We need people who mean business,” he stated.»
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ media director also expressed optimism that the outcome of the election would usher in a change of government in Osun State.
He linked the expected benefits of stronger cooperation between the state and federal governments to the reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arguing that increased resources available to states could support infrastructure, healthcare and other development projects.
Ramon said the Renewed Hope Ambassadors had visited different states and observed what he described as the impact of the Federal Government’s reforms on the fiscal space available to state governments.
“We went around the states, and what governors were able to tell us is that the presidential reforms have given them more fiscal space to operate. That is why they are engaging in road networks, healthcare and other projects because they have more resources to play with,” he said.
He further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the election so far, saying President Tinubu had urged the electoral body to ensure a free and fair process.
“The President told INEC to organise a free and fair election. I believe, with what I've seen, INEC has done well,” Ramon added.»
