Members of the Ifelodun Plank Dealers Association, Alekuwodo, Osogbo, have commended the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), for fulfilling a major campaign promise through the reconstruction of culverts, retaining walls and drainage channels within their market.
The association, on Monday, celebrated the completion and delivery of the project, describing it as a timely intervention that has rescued their businesses from the recurring threat of flooding and erosion.
The traders expressed profound appreciation to Oyebamiji for honouring his commitment despite the outcome of the governorship election, noting that the project demonstrates his dedication to service and community development.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Chairman, Pa Joseph Olabode, and Secretary, Mr. Olatunde, said the reconstruction of the drainage infrastructure would significantly protect their businesses, goods and market structures from future damage.
According to them, the deteriorated retaining walls and blocked drainage system had subjected the market to severe flooding over the years, resulting in the destruction of property and posing a serious threat to the stability of the shopping complex before Oyebamiji's intervention.
"We, members of the Ifelodun Plank Dealers Association, sincerely thank and appreciate our own APC governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, for keeping his promise to us.
"He assisted us in rebuilding the drainage walls and retaining structures that now safeguard our shopping complex from total collapse. Before this intervention, the situation was terrible, and parts of our complex had already suffered damage. We are grateful that he came to our aid when we needed help the most.
"When the rains came and our shops were threatened by flood and erosion, he remembered us. We specifically requested this project when he visited us during the election campaign. He promised to build it, and today, he has fulfilled that promise.
"Even after the election, he did not abandon us. He still went ahead to complete the project without delay. This is truly a case of promise made and promise kept. It reflects integrity, honour and commitment to the people.
"This intervention will save our businesses, protect our goods and preserve our means of livelihood. Water can now flow freely through the drainage channels without obstruction, and the threat of flooding has been permanently addressed.
"Through this project, Oyebamiji has demonstrated that true leadership is about serving the people and making a positive impact, regardless of political circumstances. The drainage walls and culverts he built have given us peace of mind and protected our market from destruction.
"We want him to know that we remain grateful and loyal. We pray that Almighty Allah continues to bless him, reward him abundantly for this good deed and elevate him in all his future endeavours," the association stated.
The traders described the project as a practical demonstration of responsive leadership and community-focused service, stressing that the intervention has restored confidence among business owners within the market and secured their investments against future environmental threats.
