Tinubu, Oyetola Have Proven Their Love for Osogbo Through Appointments – Rep. Oluwole Oke

 

OSOGBO, Nigeria, The lawmaker representing Ijesa North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the immediate past Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, for what he described as their “undeniable commitment” to the growth and political recognition of Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

In a statement released via his verified Facebook page on Monday morning, the federal lawmaker and ranking member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) urged residents to take a reflective look at the visible appointments and developmental strides that have recently been recorded in favour of Osogbo sons and daughters under the current federal administration.

According to Hon. Oke, key strategic positions held by Osogbo indigenes, including Senator Ajibola Basiru as the National Secretary of the APC and Mr. Lekan Badmus (a.k.a. “Omo Oloore”) as the Executive Director of Operations at the Nigerian Ports Authority, speak volumes about the federal government’s focus on inclusion, merit, and regional equity.

“These are not token gestures,” the lawmaker said. “They are deliberate acts of love and loyalty to Osogbo by President Tinubu and Oyetola. Their choices reflect a conscious effort to reward hard work, loyalty, and service.”

Oke maintained that the APC-led federal government remains the only administration actively providing opportunities for the youths and the less privileged across Osogbo and Olorunda local government areas. He cited ongoing federal empowerment schemes, startup support programmes, and job facilitation initiatives as part of the party’s commitment to grassroots development.

The lawmaker, who played a pivotal role in canvassing support for President Tinubu’s election, assured constituents that more federal interventions are underway—particularly in the aviation and infrastructure sectors. He revealed that plans are afoot to accelerate the completion of the long-delayed MKO Abiola International Airport in Ido-Osun, and that the federal government may take over the project if the state aligns politically with the APC.

“Our people must learn to align wisely,” he said. “The federal government is ready to do more for Osun, but we must give them the political confidence to proceed. This is not about party interest alone; it is about the future of our children and the prosperity of our region.”

Rep. Oke made a passionate appeal to Osun voters to reconsider their voting behavior ahead of the 2026 and 2027 general elections. He argued that true development can only be sustained through strategic alignment between the federal and state governments.

“We must change our voting pattern come 2026 and 2027,” Oke urged. “Our future lies in making informed political decisions that will bring meaningful development to our communities.”

The statement comes amid growing political conversations in Osun regarding regional marginalisation, project abandonment, and the need for strategic federal presence in key parts of the state.

As the 2026 governorship and 2027 general elections draw near, Oke’s comments appear aimed at preparing the ground for a renewed APC push in Osun, a state that remains politically competitive and electorally significant in the Southwest.
