OOPA Seeks Stronger Collaboration With INEC Ahead Of Osun 2026 Guber Election

Protesters Flood Washington Streets to Oppose Trump’s National Guard Deployment

 



Washington, D.C. — Hundreds of demonstrators poured into the streets of the U.S. capital over the weekend, marching from Dupont Circle to the White House in a peaceful show of resistance against President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy National Guard troops in the city.


Carrying banners with messages such as “No fascist takeover of DC” and “No military occupation,” protesters denounced what they described as an unnecessary militarization of the nation’s capital. Chants of “Trump must go now” echoed through downtown corridors as demonstrators demanded the withdrawal of federal forces.


The march, which stretched about a mile and a half, remained peaceful. Metropolitan Police helped maintain order as marchers encountered stationed National Guard units near federal buildings. Witnesses described moments of tension that eventually diffused without confrontation.


The deployment has sparked controversy, with critics, including local officials, accusing Trump of exploiting concerns about crime and security in Washington for political purposes. “This is not about safety,” one protester said. “This is about control and intimidation.”


Trump, who earlier in the week declared a “crime emergency” in the District of Columbia, has defended his move as necessary to restore order. Three Republican-led states have pledged to send additional Guard troops, intensifying opposition from residents who insist the capital is being turned into a staging ground for political theater.


For many marchers, Saturday’s demonstration was about asserting the autonomy of Washington, D.C., a city long denied full self-governing rights. “We refuse to be occupied,” a community leader declared at the rally. “This is our home, not a war zone.”


The protests mark another flashpoint in the escalating standoff between Trump and local leaders, setting the stage for further clashes as more troops are expected to arrive in the coming days.

Driver Chop Off Vehicle Inspection Officer’s Ear Over Car Particular

  A yet-to-identified Sienna car driver has reportedly bitten the ear of a Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) identified as Papu Prosper.
