iden has successfully undergone surgery to remove cancerous skin cells and is recovering well, according to reports from NBC News and Reuters.
The 82-year-old leader underwent a procedure known as Mohs surgery, a common treatment for skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma. The method allows doctors to remove thin layers of skin cancer cells while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible.
Biden’s medical team disclosed in May 2025 that he had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer, describing it as “aggressive but hormone-sensitive.” Doctors expressed cautious optimism, noting that it is likely to respond to ongoing treatment.
This latest operation follows his earlier battle with skin cancer. In 2023, while still serving as president, Biden had a lesion removed during a routine physical, which was later confirmed to be basal cell carcinoma, the most common form of skin cancer.
Concerns about Biden’s health and fitness for office were frequent during his presidency. In July 2024, he ended his re-election campaign after a shaky debate performance against Donald Trump raised fresh questions within the Democratic Party.
Biden remains the oldest person ever elected to the U.S. presidency, a record later surpassed when Donald Trump, now 79, was elected president in 2024.
