A 27-year-old widow in Enugu State has narrated the heartbreaking story of how her husband was brutally killed by suspected herdsmen while he was working to provide for their family.
Mrs. Chidinma Okeke, mother of four, said her husband, 34-year-old Emmanuel Okeke, left home early in the morning for his regular sand-dredging work along a riverbank in Nimbo community, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, but never returned alive.
According to her, Emmanuel was attacked and stabbed multiple times by armed men believed to be herdsmen who had been sighted earlier roaming within the area. His co-workers reportedly fled when they saw the attackers approaching, but Emmanuel, who was operating the dredging machine at the time, could not escape.
“My husband was only trying to feed his family. They stabbed him like an animal and left him to die,” the grieving widow told narrated amid tears.
“Now I have four children to raise alone. I don’t know where to start.”
