“End of an Era: Ajelogbon Highlights Achievements, Calls for Unity in OOPA Farewell Speech”




The outgoing Chairman of the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA), Mukhtar Ajelogbon, has formally concluded his two-year tenure with a strong message of unity, professional growth, and digital transformation for the future of journalism.



Delivering his farewell address on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the OOPA Secretariat in Osogbo, Ajelogbon described his administration as one driven by a “Team Work Agenda,” which recorded notable milestones and strengthened the association’s foundation.



Reflecting on his time in office as the fourth elected chairman, he expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and members of the association for their unwavering support throughout his leadership.


Key Achievements Under Ajelogbon’s Leadership



Ajelogbon highlighted several accomplishments recorded during his tenure, including:


• Regular training workshops focused on capacity building and the integration of


• Artificial Intelligence in digital media


• Securing a functional secretariat for the association in Osogbo



• Establishment of the association’s official bank account


•Improved welfare for members through advertisement partnerships


• Launch of OOPA’s official website


• Appointment of a Matron to strengthen institutional support


• Expansion of membership


• Distribution of power banks to members to mitigate challenges of erratic power supply



He noted that these strides were made possible through collective effort and commitment from members and the executive council.



Appreciation and Acknowledgements



The outgoing chairman paid tribute to key stakeholders and individuals who contributed to the success of his administration, including members of his executive team, the association’s patron, and supporters within and outside the media space.



He gave special recognition to the late Adesoji Omosebi for his contributions to the association, particularly in planning and coordination, describing his role as invaluable.

Ajelogbon also appreciated the foundational efforts of past leaders, including Jare Tiamiyu, for laying a solid groundwork upon which his administration built.

Call for Unity and Professional Growth

In his concluding remarks, Ajelogbon emphasized that the future of journalism lies in digital media, urging members to remain united, continuously improve their skills, and support one another.

According to him, “a house divided cannot stand,” stressing that internal cohesion is critical for the association to withstand external pressures and remain relevant in a rapidly evolving media landscape.


He declared confidently that OOPA represents the future of journalism, adding that “the future is now.”

As the leadership baton passes on, expectations remain high, with pending support such as the provision of a generator promised by the Osun INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner anticipated to further strengthen the association’s operations.
