Nancy Pelosi Warns Against US Withdrawal from NATO

 

Former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has cautioned against any move to withdraw the United States from NATO, highlighting the alliance’s historic importance.



“Seventy-seven years ago, America and our allies came together to form NATO, an alliance rooted in peace and democracy,” Pelosi said.

She criticized recent threats by President Donald Trump, saying they are “not only shortsighted, they’re a gift to Vladimir Putin.”

Pelosi also emphasized the legal constraints: under U.S. law, no president can unilaterally withdraw from NATO without Congressional approval.
