OSOGBO — The Director-General of the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigeria's security agencies following the successful rescue of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State after spending 56 days in captivity.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Senior Media Aide, Omolebi-Sunday Segun Tunde, Oke described the operation as a major victory against criminality and a clear demonstration of the Federal Government's commitment to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians through intelligence-led security operations.
According to him, the successful rescue of the victims without further tragedy reinforces public confidence in the nation's security architecture and highlights the importance of coordinated collaboration among security agencies under effective political leadership.
The APC campaign chief praised President Tinubu for what he described as courageous and unwavering leadership in confronting insecurity, noting that the administration's continued investment in intelligence gathering, operational coordination and security reforms is producing measurable results across the country.
Oke also applauded the President's approval for the deployment of additional forest guards, describing the initiative as a strategic move aimed at denying criminal elements safe havens in forests and rural communities where kidnappers often operate.
He further commended the National Security Adviser, the Minister of Defence, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security agencies involved in the rescue mission for their professionalism, resilience and dedication.
While celebrating the safe return of the abducted victims, Oke expressed sympathy to the family of the school principal who lost his life during the incident, praying that they would receive divine strength to bear the painful loss.
He urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence, stressing that the fight against insecurity requires active collaboration between government institutions and citizens.
Turning attention to Osun State, Oke called on the state government to strengthen proactive security measures by investing in intelligence gathering, expanding community-based security initiatives and deploying available security resources solely for the protection of lives and property.
He maintained that the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), remains committed to building a safer and more secure Osun State where residents can live, work and pursue their livelihoods without fear.
The statement concluded that sustained cooperation between government, security agencies and citizens remains critical to winning the fight against kidnapping, banditry and other forms of violent crime across Nigeria.
