"Three Years, One Chemistry Teacher: Prof. Olamiju Says Osun's Classrooms Have Become Political Casualties"

Former Special Adviser to the immediate past Governor of Osun State, Professor Siji Olamiju Akol, has launched a scathing attack on the current administration in Osun State, accusing it of presiding over a worsening education crisis and failing the younger generation.

Speaking during the distribution of improved cocoa seedlings by the Next Level Progressive Movement (NLPM) at the APC Secretariat, Abe Igi Aanu, Otan-Ile, Olamiju said the state was witnessing a steady decline in the quality of public education, warning that parents who continue to support the present government would bear the consequences in the future.

According to him, the progressive administrations that previously governed Osun invested heavily in qualitative education, creating opportunities that enabled many people from humble backgrounds, including himself, to attain academic and professional success.

He lamented what he described as severe shortages of teachers in public secondary schools, alleging that dozens of schools across Atakunmosa East and Atakunmosa West have operated for years with only one Chemistry teacher.

Recalling a recent visit to Ipetu-Ijesa Grammar School, Olamiju claimed he examined students' academic records and discovered that many had not been taught Basic Science for three consecutive academic sessions.

"If your child is expected to become a doctor, nurse or scientist, there is no magic that can replace the education they have missed," he said, arguing that prolonged neglect of the education sector could deny many young people the opportunity to realise their career aspirations.

Turning to politics, Olamiju praised the governorship aspiration of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), describing him as a compassionate leader with genuine concern for human lives.

He revealed that campaign activities in Oriade were suspended following the tragic road accident involving APC supporters in Ede, saying AMBO personally directed that all campaign programmes should be put on hold for three days out of respect for the victims.

In one of the most striking moments of his speech, Olamiju alleged that although Osun people voted for one leader, "another person is governing the state," before appealing to women across Osun to mobilise support for the APC and AMBO ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

His remarks drew applause from party supporters gathered at the event, which also featured the distribution of improved cocoa seedlings to farmers as part of the APC-backed agricultural empowerment initiative under the Next Level Progressive Movement.
