LAGELU, Oyo State — Hon. Olaore Naheem, an aspirant for the Lagelu State Constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called for greater unity, grassroots mobilisation and stronger ward structures as the party begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Naheem made the call during a meeting with ADC members at Isale Osun in Lagelu Local Government, where he commended party faithful for their loyalty and commitment to the party despite what he described as prevailing challenges.
The meeting, which attracted a significant gathering of party members, featured discussions on strengthening the ADC structure and expanding its grassroots presence across Lagelu.
Addressing the gathering, Naheem said victory in 2027 would require collective effort rather than the activities of an individual.
“To win in 2027 is left to all of us. It is not a one-man job, it is everyone's effort. If we work together with one heart, victory is sure,” he said.
The aspirant identified aggressive grassroots mobilisation as a key component of his proposed strategy, urging party members to engage residents directly through house-to-house and door-to-door mobilisation.
He maintained that the party must take its message to the people at the grassroots and convince them of the need to support the ADC ahead of the election.
Naheem also urged members to return to their respective wards and begin strengthening the party's support base.
Using a numerical mobilisation strategy, he suggested that each ward could identify 10 committed members, with each of them tasked with reaching another 10 people, arguing that such an approach could rapidly expand the party's grassroots network.
Also present at the meeting was Hon. Saheed Azeez, popularly known as “Mosquito,” who represented the federal representative, Hon. Okikiola Ojetayo.
Azeez addressed concerns surrounding Ojetayo's recent limited visibility, explaining that the federal lawmaker had been delayed by issues at the state level but had now resolved them.
He expressed optimism that Ojetayo's activities would soon become more visible and that his impact would be felt by constituents.
Azeez equally called on ADC members and executives to intensify efforts toward building a stronger, more active and united party structure across wards and polling units in Lagelu.
He urged party members to commence grassroots mobilisation in earnest, stressing the need for the ADC to establish a visible presence throughout the local government ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting ended with renewed enthusiasm among participants, with members chanting slogans signalling their readiness for the 2027 political contest.
The gathering is part of growing political activities within Lagelu as parties and aspirants begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
