Alleged Plot to Invade Osun’s 30 LG Secretariats Exposed as APC Raises Alarm

Party Alerts Police, DSS, NSCDC; Accuses NULGE of Alleged Complicity

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised concerns over an alleged plan by some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-backed local government council executives to take over local government secretariats across the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, and signed by the party's Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC alleged that the purported PDP council executives were planning to move into the 30 local government areas and the Area Office on Thursday, September 3.

The party further alleged that individuals it described as political hoodlums had been mobilised in connection with the planned action.

According to the APC, the development followed the recent re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke, which it claimed had emboldened the affected PDP-backed council executives to regroup.

The party also alleged that officials of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in the state were involved in the alleged plan.

The APC called on the Osun State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to take preventive measures to avert any possible breakdown of law and order.

The party argued that the dispute over the leadership and tenure of the local government councils should be resolved through the courts, noting that the matter remains subject to judicial proceedings.

The APC also referenced the killing of a reinstated council chairman, Honourable Remi Abass of Irewole Local Government Area, in urging security agencies to prevent a recurrence of violence.

The party maintained that a case concerning the tenure of the reinstated APC local government council executives, which was earlier decided by the Federal High Court, remains pending before the Court of Appeal in Akure.

The APC consequently urged security agencies to monitor developments around the local government secretariats and appealed to all parties involved in the dispute to avoid actions capable of disrupting public peace.
