.....Urges Nigerians to Stop Celebrating Those Who Misuse Public Funds
Chief CBN Onwuasoanya Ezendigbo, a presidential hopeful, has unveiled his vision for Nigeria, promising to restore confidence in the people while calling for a fundamental change in the country’s political, economic and social values.
Ezendigbo, while speaking on the challenges confronting Nigeria, argued that the country is not short of natural resources or human capacity, but suffers from poor management, corruption and a culture that sometimes celebrates individuals accused of misusing public resources.
According to him, Nigeria possesses abundant resources, including crude oil, gold, bitumen and other mineral deposits, yet a significant number of citizens continue to struggle economically.
He questioned why a country blessed with such resources should continue to depend heavily on imported goods and borrowing, arguing that Nigeria should focus on developing its productive capacity and using its resources to improve the standard of living of its citizens.
Ezendigbo also criticised what he described as the extravagant lifestyles of some public officials, particularly the alleged use of public resources to maintain expensive convoys, private jets and other forms of luxury.
He urged Nigerians to stop celebrating people who misuse public funds, stressing that public office should be regarded as a responsibility rather than an avenue for personal enrichment.
The presidential hopeful also condemned electoral violence, questioning the democratic value of a system in which citizens could lose their lives because of political contests.
He called for greater investment in science, technology and human capital, arguing that modern nations increasingly depend on technological advancement rather than the use of conventional weapons as a measure of national strength.
Ezendigbo further expressed concern over what he described as excessive reliance on miracle claims in addressing social and economic difficulties. He urged Nigerians to embrace scientific knowledge and critical thinking while seeking solutions to the challenges confronting them.
On his presidential ambition, Ezendigbo said his priority would be to rebuild citizens’ confidence in Nigeria and its institutions.
“As a president hopeful, I will restore confidence in the people,” he declared.
