Trump Considers U.S. Withdrawal from NATO, Calls Alliance “Paper Tiger”

Donald Trump has revealed that the United States is considering withdrawing from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, following disagreements over the alliance’s stance on the conflict involving Iran. In an interview with The Telegraph published on Wednesday, Trump described NATO as a “paper tiger,” raising concerns about its strength and relevance in current global security matters. The U.S. leader expressed dissatisfaction with NATO’s refusal to support military action related to Iran, a position that appears to have widened the gap between Washington and its long-standing allies. Trump’s remarks signal a renewed wave of criticism against the alliance, which has historically served as a cornerstone of Western defense cooperation. His stance also revives long-standing debates about the U.S. role within NATO and whether the country should continue its commitment to the bloc. Security analysts warn that any move by the United States to withdraw from NATO could significantly res...

Where Is Common Sense? Bobi Wine Blast Museveni For Buying Expensive Cars For Ex-Speakers

Bobi wine has blasted Yoweri Museveni, the president of Uganda, What sense does it makes to have purchased luxury cars for ex-speakers of the parliament after the president himself had recently bewailed that his regime is cash-strapped. Bobi wine, wrote on his social media handle, "Where is the common sense Museveni was talking about recently? The regime claims to be cash-strapped. Citizens are dying of hunger in different parts of the country.  The regime can barely offer any meaningful services to the people.  And what do they do? Spend billions to purchase luxury cars for former Speakers of Parliament, some of whom still hold well-paying government jobs where they already have vehicles and convoys following them around!  Each week, we wake up to a new scandal, new heist. The criminals in power continue to ask the citizens: "What can you do?" And yes, the citizens of this country must rise up at the earliest opportunity and put an end to this madness.

Governor Ademola Adeleke: Celebrating One Year In Office Of Mr. Performer - By James Azuka Uzoma

Call him the performer you won’t be wrong, this is because Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has taken his achievements in one year in office since becoming Osun State Governor to an enviable height.  Much to the chagrin of his detractors, Adeleke’s good governance in just one year in office has been amazing as developments under his government are littered within the State since he assumed office one year ago. For Governor Adeleke, accountability and transparency remain at the heart of his good governance as his government is about the people of the state. As he has always said that he will be different from his predecessor, Governor Adeleke has always given vivid accounts of his stewardship to the people of the State. Upon assumption in office, firstly Governor Adeleke made open the financial books of the State to the people through the Royal fathers in the state, this indeed showed a clear departure from the impenetrability and clandestineness that characterized t...

An Immigration Record In The U.K

. Legal immigration into Britain climbed to a record 745,000 arrivals in 2022, despite the governing Conservative Party’s vow to curb that number.  The figures were a fresh setback for the prime minister, Rishi Sunak, as he struggles to stop asylum seekers arriving in small boats on the British coast while trying to revive the economy and deal with dismal polling numbers. The statistics relate to people given permission to enter the country, mainly to work or study.  A majority now come from countries outside Europe, and the trend is politically awkward for supporters of Brexit. During the 2016 referendum campaign, those advocating departure promised to “take back control” of the country’s borders.

British court rules against Rwanda plan

Britain’s Supreme Court ruled unanimously that a policy to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda is unlawful, dealing a blow to the Conservative government, which has long described the plan as central to its pledge to stop illegal migration across the English Channel. The ruling is the latest setback for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at a time of intense political turmoil in his party, which has held power for 13 years and is lagging in the polls. Rights groups and opposition politicians widely criticized the policy from the start, with many pointing to Rwanda’s troubled record on human rights. After the ruling, the government said that it was still committed to sending asylum seekers to Rwanda, although how that plan might work — and whether it could happen before the expected general election next year — was unclear. No asylum seekers have yet been sent to Rwanda because of a series of legal challenges. Justice Robert Reed, one of five judges who heard the case, said the plan would bre...

After storming the Al-Shifa Hospital complex in Gaza overnight, Israeli soldiers were conducting searches and interrogations inside, and officers said they had found rifles, ammunition, body armor and other military equipment in a radiology building, NYT learnt. Their assertions could not be independently verified, and Hamas said they were “fabricated.” Palestinian officials, the heads of U.N. agencies and some Mideast regional leaders condemned the raid, warning that it risked the lives of Gaza’s most vulnerable, including the gravely ill and wounded.  Israel maintains that Hamas built a military command center at the hospital, using its patients and staff as human shields. Inside Al-Shifa: A witness who said he was on the fourth floor of a surgical building described an atmosphere of confusion, tension and fear. In what resembled a police raid, Israeli soldiers questioned people and conducted searches, with explosions and gunfire still rattling windows and nerves. Background: The...

Drone Attacks On Moscow

Russian officials have reported intercepting at least 12 drones headed for Moscow over the last three weeks, including two overnight on Tuesday, suggesting that such attacks are now taking the war to Russia’s capital on a near-daily basis. Not every drone appears to have been intercepted: Last week, a government building in central Moscow was twice struck in 48 hours. The claims could not be independently verified. But Ukrainian officials have acknowledged that some attacks were orchestrated by Kyiv, making it increasingly clear that they will not allow the war to be limited to their own soil. While the Russian authorities have largely tried to play down the risks of drone attacks, Dmitri Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesman, spoke last week of “a clear threat,” adding that “measures are being taken” to build up defenses around the capital. Since the beginning of May, Russia’s Defense Ministry has reported at least 28 drone attacks on Russian soil. The assaults have reached deep into ...

Putin’s Crackdown On Transgender Russians

A new law in Russia criminalizes all surgery and hormone treatments used for gender transitions.  It comes on top of a measure enacted last December prohibiting the representation of L.G.B.T.Q. relationships in any media — streaming services, social platforms, books, music, posters, billboards or film. Together, the legislative changes underscore how President Vladimir Putin is increasingly using the war in Ukraine as justification for greater restrictions on L.G.B.T.Q. life, portraying it as a consequence of deviant Western values. From the war; Danube River ports are now the only shipping outlet for Ukrainian grain. Russia has made it clear that the ports are just as much a target as any vessel in the Black Sea. Russia said a drone had hit a central Moscow building for the second time in 48 hours, blaming Ukraine.
