Osogbo, Nigeria – The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed another political casualty as Hon. Omirin Emmanuel, a notable lawmaker, has tendered his resignation from the party.



In a resignation letter dated 17th July, 2015.


Hon. Omirin cited “wrangling factors, irreconcilable divisions, and legal battles that have now become the norm” as the key reasons behind his decision to part ways with the once-dominant party.



 “This is not a decision taken lightly,” he stated. “But I can no longer function within a structure that is perpetually locked in internal warfare and unable to uphold the collective vision we once shared.”



Omirin’s resignation adds to the growing list of party members who have either defected or withdrawn due to the PDP’s lingering internal instability, particularly in states like Osun, where leadership struggles and court injunctions have stalled meaningful cohesion.



Political analysts view Omirin’s move as both a protest and a pointer,a protest against a party in decline, and a pointer to deeper cracks within its foundation ahead of the 2026 elections.


While Hon. Omirin did not immediately disclose his next political destination, there is strong speculation of ongoing consultations with the All Progressives Congress (APC).


Observers say the PDP may be facing a slow-motion exodus unless urgent reconciliation efforts are launched at both state and national levels.
