Osun Renewal Group Accuses Governor Adeleke of Incompetence, Nepotism, and Endangering the State’s Future

The Osun Renewal Group (ORG) has raised alarm over what it describes as the dangerous collapse of governance in Osun State under Governor Ademola Adeleke, accusing him of “gross ineptitude, lack of intellectual capacity, and unprecedented family capture of government.”


In a strongly worded statement issued on Sunday in Osogbo, the group lamented that since Adeleke assumed office in November 2022, “Osun State has been reduced to a shadow of itself, its resources mismanaged, institutions weakened, and its future endangered.”


Education in Collapse


ORG said the education sector is in a state of emergency, with thousands of duly appointed teachers unlawfully dismissed, leaving many schools grossly understaffed. “Some local governments now operate with only one science teacher across all secondary schools, while pupils are packed into dilapidated classrooms. Schools for special-needs children are neglected, without basic facilities or trained staff,” the group noted.


Healthcare in Disarray


The statement described the state’s healthcare system as “in tatters,” citing arbitrary dismissal and rehiring of health workers, poorly maintained hospitals, and critical shortages of supplies. “Rather than investing in personnel and equipment, the government has chosen cosmetic renovations and media propaganda,” ORG said.


Economy Without Vision


On the economy, ORG accused Adeleke’s administration of focusing on “propaganda over progress,” cancelling youth empowerment schemes without alternatives and failing to deliver promised job creation. “Businesses are fleeing Osun due to erratic policies and lack of infrastructure,” the group declared.


Abandoned Infrastructure and Declining Security


ORG further condemned the administration’s failure to deliver promised road, flyover, and electrification projects, describing most as “stalled or abandoned.” Security, once a point of pride for Osun, is now in decline with kidnappings, cult clashes, and political thuggery on the rise, the group warned.


Nepotism and Fiscal Recklessness


The group accused Adeleke of turning the state into “a family enterprise,” with siblings allegedly controlling appointments, budgets, and key decisions. “Public funds are spent without transparency, while critical ministries like Education and Health remain starved of resources. Pensioners and civil servants are left unpaid as billions vanish into unaccounted expenditures,” ORG alleged.


The Verdict


“Osun State is not a private estate; it belongs to its people,” the statement concluded. “The governance under Governor Adeleke has failed by every measurable standard. If the governor cannot return to the path of accountability and service delivery, he should vacate the office he so ineptly occupies. Osun deserves competent, visionary leadership, not family capture and administrative incompetence.”
