In what appears to be Nigeria’s most dramatic “return on investment” complaint yet, a man on Thursday stormed the All Progressives Congress (APC) national secretariat in Abuja with a message as blunt as it was unsettling: reward me or kill me. The protest, captured in a now-viral video, shows the visibly distressed man holding a placard and demanding recognition for what he described as his personal sacrifices during the party’s 2023 campaign. According to him, loyalty was not just emotional, it was financial, physical, and, ultimately, total. In a country where political support often comes with expectations, some spoken, many implied the man’s outcry reads like a tragic audit of misplaced trust. His claim that he sold his house to fund campaign efforts has not been independently verified, but the symbolism is hard to ignore: a citizen liquidating stability in exchange for promised political dividends. Observers at the scene watched as the protester oscillated between anger and ...
In what can best be described as a defining moment for Osun politics, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). His defection, while long anticipated by discerning observers, signals the steady collapse of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, a collapse that we, the progressives, must now fast-track.
As a long-standing voice in Osun’s political landscape, I, Otunba Jumoke Ogunkeyede (JMK), wholeheartedly welcome Hon. Oke to the progressive fold. His decision reflects not just a political realignment but a conscious return to purpose, a step toward rebuilding Osun State on the foundation of vision, stability, and performance.
By joining the APC, Hon. Oke aligns with a party led nationally by His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and one whose legacies include the leadership of Chief Bisi Akande and the enduring contributions of our former Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
The APC in Ijesa North Federal Constituency, and indeed across Osun, is not merely receiving a new member; we are receiving a co-builder. With Hon. Oke, our resolve to redefine the future of Osun becomes even firmer. As the Yoruba saying goes, “Ààyà̀ bẹ̀ s’ilẹ̀, ó bẹ̀ s’áráyé” — the moment the monkey landed, it took off running. That must be our mindset. There is no time to waste. 2026 looms large, and the task before us is clear: to render the PDP into political irrelevance through strategy, unity, and hard work.
This is no time for sitting on the fence or reminiscing about the past. The people of Osun deserve a party that works, not one that trades governance for chaos. With new energy, committed leadership, and shared ambition, we will rebuild APC into an institution of pride, not just for our state, but for the entire nation.
Let it be known: the APC is not just Hon. Oke’s new political home, it is his rightful place. Together, we must turn Osun into a bastion of progressive excellence, and by God’s grace, relegate the PDP to a powerless opposition by 2026.
Welcome, Hon. Wole Oke. The journey has just begun.
