Gambia Welcomes Africa’s Lawmakers to Chart a United Path Through Conflicts, Crises, and Climate Change
The Republic of The Gambia has rolled out the red carpet for the 54th Annual Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Africa Region, gathering lawmakers, parliamentary staff, and key stakeholders under one powerful theme: “Strengthening Democratic Governance and Resilience in Africa: Tackling Conflicts, Economic Shocks, and Climate Risks.”
Opening the forum, President Adama Barrow stressed the urgent need for continental solidarity to reinforce governance systems, defuse conflicts, cushion economic blows, and safeguard communities against the mounting threat of climate disasters.
He described the theme as a call to action for every African nation,
urging leaders to take a hard look at today’s realities, anticipate tomorrow’s challenges, and work hand in hand to build a future where democracy thrives and resilience prevails.
