Hands Off Politics: Let Police Probe Ikire Killing Thoroughly — Osun APC Slams Accord Party

The Governorship Election Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has cautioned the state chapter of the Accord Party to desist from politicising the death of a fellow human being in circumstances that are yet to be unraveled by the police and other statutory security agencies in the state.



It is uncharitable, reckless, and deeply insensitive for elements within the campaign structure of the re-election bid of Governor Ademola Adeleke to engage in what appears to be deliberate political exploitation of a tragic incident, in a desperate attempt to malign opponents and sway public sentiment.

This consistent resort to misinformation and false narratives aimed at the innocent people of the state is capable of undermining the peace and stability Osun State currently enjoys.

The attempt to link the death of a young man, Mr. Eluyera Kolade, allegedly said to be the son of the Accord Party Women Leader in Irewole Local Government Area, to members of our party is not only frivolous but also malicious and unfounded. Violence and brigandage have never been the hallmark of the APC at any level.

While we sincerely commiserate with the family of the deceased over this painful loss, we strongly urge the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident, with a view to ensuring that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.

We also call on the Accord Party in Osun State to cooperate fully with security agencies rather than engaging in inflammatory rhetoric that could jeopardize the peace and integrity of the investigative process.

Our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), remains a gentleman of proven integrity who has no record or inclination toward violence, nor does desperation exist in his political philosophy.

The Accord Party in Osun State, which appears increasingly confused and politically stranded ahead of the 2026 elections, has continued to manufacture allegations in a bid to gain relevance and sympathy in the face of inevitable electoral defeat.

This pattern of baseless accusations is not new, as similar claims made recently against members of our party regarding an alleged assassination plot against Mr. Adebayo Adeleke (B-Red) were thoroughly investigated and found to be false by security agencies.

We also recall the unfortunate history of violence in Ikire, where political thugs allegedly associated with factions of the opposition were linked to the killing of Hon. Remi Abass, the reinstated APC Chairman of Irewole Local Government Area.

We wish to state unequivocally that the political ambition of our candidate is not worth the blood of any citizen. The APC remains committed to peaceful, issue-based, and democratic engagement.

The Accord Party is advised to return to the drawing board and present ideas to the electorate rather than manufacturing falsehoods against a candidate who is steadily gaining the confidence of the people of Osun State ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

This latest attempt to mislead the public will, as always, amount to nothing.

Driver Chop Off Vehicle Inspection Officer’s Ear Over Car Particular

  A yet-to-identified Sienna car driver has reportedly bitten the ear of a Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) identified as Papu Prosper.
