Nigeria Is Not Owned by Anyone—Except Those Who Build Her

On this Democracy Day, I had intended to rest my pen. I wanted to leave the fate written on the walls of history to speak for itself. I thought perhaps the sacrifices of those who fought for democracy were enough testimony. Yet, in the final hour, a thought stirred within me, compelling me to write a message to all of us who have come together to form this sovereign nation called Nigeria. My message is particularly for those who believe that the business of Nigeria lies in the hands of a powerful few. Perhaps they are influenced by what the German sociologist Robert Michels described as the "Iron Law of Oligarchy" ,the tendency for power to concentrate in the hands of a small elite. Looking at our politics, our institutions, and our economy, one may be tempted to believe that the destiny of Nigeria is determined only by those who occupy powerful offices and influential positions. But history tells a different story. Nigeria does not belong to any president, governor, politi...

Obokun Local Government, under the strategic leadership of the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Wole Oke, has once again taken the lead in grassroots political mobilisation with the successful inauguration of no fewer than 3,000 canvassers in support of the candidacy of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji ahead of the forthcoming election.

The landmark event, held in Ibokun, reflects Hon. Wole Oke’s unwavering commitment to building a formidable, structured, and result-driven campaign architecture capable of delivering victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC). As the political arrowhead of the campaign, Hon. Oke has continued to demonstrate exceptional organisational depth and strategic foresight, with Obokun serving as the operational nucleus of the statewide mobilisation effort.

The inauguration marks a critical phase in the campaign’s grassroots engagement strategy, as the canvassers carefully selected across all wards and polling units have been tasked with driving voter outreach, deepening political awareness, and ensuring effective communication of the party’s message at the community level.

This initiative, widely acknowledged by party stakeholders as a model for replication across all 30 local government councils and the Area Office in Osun State, underscores Hon. Wole Oke’s leadership in setting the pace for a coordinated and unified campaign.

The canvassing programme was efficiently coordinated by the planning committee comprising of the key stakeholders of the party whose collaborative efforts further reinforced the strong leadership structure put in place by the Campaign Council under Hon. Oke.

The event attracted a broad spectrum of party leaders, executives, and stakeholders from across the ten wards of Obokun Local Government, reflecting a resounding vote of confidence in the leadership of Hon. Wole Oke and a shared commitment to electoral success.

In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Obokun Local Government, Hon. Engr. Moruf Ogundipe, commended Hon. Wole Oke for his exemplary leadership and described the inauguration as a defining moment in the political reawakening of Osun State. He urged the canvassers to diligently propagate the message of prosperity embodied by Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

Hon. Owoeye Samuel Abiodun disclosed that the selection of canvassers, 30 from each of the 100 polling units, was carried out with precision, reflecting the structured approach championed by the Campaign Council.

Barr. Dupe Ajayi administered the oath of office, charging the canvassers to remain committed, disciplined, and worthy ambassadors of the party’s vision.

Other dignitaries, including Otunba Jumoke Ogunkeyede (JMK), Hon. Rufus Oluwatayo, and Hon. Ezekiel Obeisun, in their separate remarks, aligned with the vision of Hon. Wole Oke, urging the canvassers to be resolute, fearless, and effective in mobilising support across communities.

Prof. Siji Olamijulo emphasised the importance of unity and relationship-building as critical tools for grassroots success, further reinforcing the strategic direction laid down by the Campaign Council.

Sen. Francis Adenigba sent his goodwill message and his full backing of the canvassers, promising to give them all the required support mechanism to deliver on this noble assignment.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Oluwole Wole Oke expressed deep satisfaction with the successful inauguration, describing it as a testament to the readiness and unity of the party in Obokun. He announced the immediate commencement of training and orientation for the canvassers, reaffirming his confidence in their capacity to deliver an overwhelming victory.

According to him, “this is not just an inauguration; it is the activation of a well-coordinated grassroots machinery that will drive our campaign to success.”

With Hon. Wole Oke providing clear leadership and strategic direction, Obokun Local Government has firmly positioned itself at the forefront of the APC’s statewide mobilisation efforts, setting a strong foundation for victory in the forthcoming election.

BREAKING: Esa-Oke Youths Reunite as Survivors, Caution Pelumi against revisionism

....we’re not your campaign slogan Once upon a glorious, chaotic 2017, practically every able-bodied youth in Esa-Oke held honorary title in the land: Personal Assistant to Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi. No interviews. No pay. Just passion, blind loyalty, and the stamina to chase him from one campaign ground to the next like a political body double. From Comrade Mainframe to Comrade Swiss, from Yinka Oba to the humble football boys who carried cones like national flags, we were there. We were the movement. Until, of course. Now in 2025, Barrister Pelumi, clearly inspired by a Netflix political drama is on a media tour telling anyone who’ll listen that he "settled everyone who worked for him." Settled who, please? Maybe in his dreams or in the metaverse. In the real world, the story’s a bit different. Those of us from Obokun, who hustled day and night, got exactly zero: no thank you, no handshake. Take Sami, now a former Ward 7 councillor, no thanks from Pelumi. Folusho? Aregbe...

Assassination Attempt: Police can’t deny what’s on their desk, says Amotekun boss

The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps , High Chief Dr Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele , who is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital following an attempted assassination on his life on Monday, has strongly refuted the claims made by the Osun State Police Spokeperson regarding the incident. Reacting to the statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who claimed that investigations had not commenced because the Commander had not provided evidence of the attack, the Amotekun boss expressed deep disappointment, labeling the police response as insensitive and misleading. "It is shocking that a police spokesperson would say there is no evidence of an attack when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ota-Efun Division — the nearest jurisdiction to the incident — was immediately informed," the Commander said. "Officers from that division visited the scene the same night, assessed the damage, evacuated the vehicle, and advised me to seek ...
