Osogbo APC Leaders Demand Probe Into Alleged Assassination Attempt on Ataoja

…Say Monarch's Claim Exposes Adeleke's Gross Incompetence, Loss Of Security Control Of Osun The leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Sunday demanded probe into the alleged assassination attempt on the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji. The party leaders noted that the Ataoja's assassination claim has further exposed Governor Ademola Adeleke's gross incompetence, ineptitude and total loss of the control of the state security. They called on security agencies to beam their searchlight and investigate the alleged assassination attempt on the monarch as part of efforts to unraveling the circumstances surrounding the monarch’s claim. The party specifically urged the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Why Police Must Investigate Ataoja's Allegation Of Assassination Attempt - Osun APC

 Oriontimes Poitical Desk| June 14 2026

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has tasked the state police command to investigate an assassination attempt alleged by one of the foremost royal fathers in the state, the Ataoja of Osogboland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, Larooye II, with a view to bringing to justice who might have been responsible for the alleged attack and set the record in its proper perspective.

It would be recalled that the Ataoja was reported to have disclosed at the adoption of Governor Ademola Adeleke for re-election by the spare parts traders at Ajegunle area of Osogbo, the state capital, on Saturday that he escaped an assassination attempt from some hoodlums who shot sporadically into his palace.

There is a need for the urgent and thorough investigation of the allegation of the attempted assassination attempt on the monarch by unknown hoodlums as alleged by the royal father as it was a grievous one which does not portray the image of the state well outside the state.

It should also be of interest to the right-thinking members of the public why the alleged assassination attempt on such a foremost Yoruba monarch should not have been incidented at the nearest police station and if it was reported to the police, why the police keep a sealed lip over the allegation of such magnitude?

It would also be of interest to the discerning members of the public to know the identity of some of the residents of the Ataoja Palace who were reportedly wounded during the said attack and the degrees of their various injuries sustained.

Gunshot wounds cannot be treated under the table in a cosmopolitan state capital like Osogbo, it would further breathe life and authenticity into the investigation of the royal allegation if the name of the hospital and the medical doctor that treated the alleged residents of the Ataoja Palace are volunteered to the police to further strengthen the allegation of the said assassination attempt.

We enjoin any member of the public who has any useful information on the assassination attempt allegation by the Ataoja of Osogboland not to hesitate to help the police in this regard.

It is necessary for the police to expedite action on the investigation of this allegation in order to clear some knotty issues surrounding it.

Why such a grievous allegation of an assassination attempt escaped the reportorial lenses of both the social and traditional media should also be investigated by the various media houses that either have their head offices in Osogbo or are having their correspondents in the state.

There's a need for the investigation of the allegation by the police in order to prove to the whole world that our party has no violence in its dictionary and our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO, does not need employment of violence or propaganda to win the forthcoming 15th August, 2026 gubernatorial election.

The source of Oyebamiji's confidence to win the election through the people's votes is that while his arch rival was busy wining and dining, dancing and hobnobbing with women of easy virtues from Osogbo to Lagos to Abuja to Atlanta in the United States of America, our meticulous and ever resourceful governorship candidate was busy burning the candle at both ends.

BREAKING: Esa-Oke Youths Reunite as Survivors, Caution Pelumi against revisionism

....we’re not your campaign slogan Once upon a glorious, chaotic 2017, practically every able-bodied youth in Esa-Oke held honorary title in the land: Personal Assistant to Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi. No interviews. No pay. Just passion, blind loyalty, and the stamina to chase him from one campaign ground to the next like a political body double. From Comrade Mainframe to Comrade Swiss, from Yinka Oba to the humble football boys who carried cones like national flags, we were there. We were the movement. Until, of course. Now in 2025, Barrister Pelumi, clearly inspired by a Netflix political drama is on a media tour telling anyone who’ll listen that he "settled everyone who worked for him." Settled who, please? Maybe in his dreams or in the metaverse. In the real world, the story’s a bit different. Those of us from Obokun, who hustled day and night, got exactly zero: no thank you, no handshake. Take Sami, now a former Ward 7 councillor, no thanks from Pelumi. Folusho? Aregbe...

Assassination Attempt: Police can’t deny what’s on their desk, says Amotekun boss

The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps , High Chief Dr Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele , who is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital following an attempted assassination on his life on Monday, has strongly refuted the claims made by the Osun State Police Spokeperson regarding the incident. Reacting to the statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who claimed that investigations had not commenced because the Commander had not provided evidence of the attack, the Amotekun boss expressed deep disappointment, labeling the police response as insensitive and misleading. "It is shocking that a police spokesperson would say there is no evidence of an attack when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ota-Efun Division — the nearest jurisdiction to the incident — was immediately informed," the Commander said. "Officers from that division visited the scene the same night, assessed the damage, evacuated the vehicle, and advised me to seek ...
