Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has suspended her ambition to contest the 2027 Ogun State governorship election. In a statement released on Monday, she confirmed her decision to step down from the race. She explained that her withdrawal was influenced by the endorsement of Senator Solomon Adeola as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming election.
The Accord Party in Osun State has formally petitioned the police over what it described as threatening and inflammatory statements allegedly made by Wole Oke, the lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, in a viral video circulating online. In a petition addressed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone XI Headquarters in Osogbo, and copied to the Nigeria Police Force leadership in Abuja, the party called for an immediate investigation and possible prosecution over the statements credited to the federal lawmaker. The petition, filed by ASA Attorneys on behalf of the state chairman of the party, described the alleged remarks as “menacing, inflammatory and capable of inciting violence.” According to the petitioners, Hon.
