Frustrated by Autocracy, Badmus Ayodele Mercy Cuts Ties with PDP After Oke’s Defecti

In a stunning development within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mercy Ayodele , a frontline woman in Osun politics , former Gubernatorial candidate under Restoration Party, former Caretaker Secretary for Obokun PDP Local Government Excos, currently serving as an LGEA member tendered her formal resignation this morning, effective immediately.

In her resignation letter addressed to PDP leaders and members, Mercy expressed deep gratitude for the opportunities and support she received during her tenure. However, she lamented that the party has recently become a "one-man show" where dissenting voices are stifled, signalling a loss of focus and internal democracy.

After extensive consultations with her supporters, including her deputy from the gubernatorial project, friends, and loyal followers across the state, she and her team have resolved to seek a new political platform better aligned with their vision and aspirations for the people.

Mercy Ayodele also emphasised that this decision was made with careful consideration and a commitment to advancing their shared goals.

She also assured the party of her commitment to a smooth transition.

This resignation adds to the ongoing challenges and gales of defection within the PDP, highlighting internal party conflicts and dissatisfaction among key members ahead of critical electoral contests.

The move may have significant implications for the party’s cohesion and electoral prospects in Osun State and beyond.

You would also recall that Hon. Wole Oke defected from the party last week, citing similar challenges as faced by the party.

Further updates will follow as the situation unfolds.

Her farewell message read;

Farewell Message to Supporters and Friends

To my esteemed deputy, friends, family, loyal supporters, and all who stood by me during my journey in the PDP:

Thank you for your steadfast support, encouragement, and belief in our vision for a better future. Our journey together has been marked by resilience, unity, and a shared commitment to progress.

As we move forward to a new political platform, I urge you to remain steadfast and hopeful. Together, we will continue to strive for the development and prosperity of our people.

Let us embrace this new beginning with optimism and renewed determination. I am honoured to have you by my side, and I look forward to achieving greater heights together.

With gratitude and respect,

Mercy Ayodele

BREAKING: Esa-Oke Youths Reunite as Survivors, Caution Pelumi against revisionism

....we’re not your campaign slogan Once upon a glorious, chaotic 2017, practically every able-bodied youth in Esa-Oke held honorary title in the land: Personal Assistant to Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi. No interviews. No pay. Just passion, blind loyalty, and the stamina to chase him from one campaign ground to the next like a political body double. From Comrade Mainframe to Comrade Swiss, from Yinka Oba to the humble football boys who carried cones like national flags, we were there. We were the movement. Until, of course. Now in 2025, Barrister Pelumi, clearly inspired by a Netflix political drama is on a media tour telling anyone who’ll listen that he "settled everyone who worked for him." Settled who, please? Maybe in his dreams or in the metaverse. In the real world, the story’s a bit different. Those of us from Obokun, who hustled day and night, got exactly zero: no thank you, no handshake. Take Sami, now a former Ward 7 councillor, no thanks from Pelumi. Folusho? Aregbe...

Assassination Attempt: Police can’t deny what’s on their desk, says Amotekun boss

The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps , High Chief Dr Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele , who is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital following an attempted assassination on his life on Monday, has strongly refuted the claims made by the Osun State Police Spokeperson regarding the incident. Reacting to the statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who claimed that investigations had not commenced because the Commander had not provided evidence of the attack, the Amotekun boss expressed deep disappointment, labeling the police response as insensitive and misleading. "It is shocking that a police spokesperson would say there is no evidence of an attack when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ota-Efun Division — the nearest jurisdiction to the incident — was immediately informed," the Commander said. "Officers from that division visited the scene the same night, assessed the damage, evacuated the vehicle, and advised me to seek ...
