It fits the fast-paced nature of social media, where attention spans are shrinking and appearance often outweighs substance.
Serious content demands more from its audience. It requires attention, thought, and sometimes uncomfortable reflection. It doesn't offer the instant gratification many users seek online, which is why important articles or insightful commentary may gather dust while a selfie trends.
This is not to shame people for celebrating beauty or joy—it has its place. But when style consistently outweighs substance, society risks becoming desensitized to the very issues that need the most attention.
If we truly want to see progress in places like Nigeria, we must begin to value truth as much as we value trends. Because while trends fade, truth builds futures.
