The Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) has announced plans to host the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Osun State, Dr. Razaq Saliu Oyelami, at a media parley ahead of the next governorship election in the state.

The Chairman of the association, Abioye Tosin Lawrence, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying the event, themed "Exploring Politics, Governance and Representation Ahead of Osun Election," is scheduled to hold on Friday, June 19, 2026, by 2:30 p.m.

According to Lawrence, the engagement is part of OOPA's commitment to promoting issue-based political discourse and creating avenues for meaningful interaction between political actors and the electorate.

"The media parley is designed to provide a platform for robust discussions on politics, governance and representation, while also giving the people of Osun State the opportunity to gain deeper insights into the vision and policy direction of Dr. Razaq Saliu Oyelami," he said.

Lawrence noted that the PRP governorship candidate is expected to speak on his plans for Osun State and address issues affecting residents across key sectors of the economy.

"Dr. Oyelami

will have the opportunity to share his perspectives on governance, economic development, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, infrastructure, security and other matters of public interest," he stated.

He added that the session would also allow journalists to engage the candidate on questions relating to leadership, policy implementation and representation ahead of the governorship election.

"As an association, we remain committed to strengthening democratic engagement through responsible journalism and informed public conversations. We believe that citizens should have access to the views, programmes and policy positions of those seeking to govern them," Lawrence said.

The OOPA chairman further stressed the importance of sustained interaction between political stakeholders and the media, noting that such engagements contribute to a more informed electorate and help deepen democratic culture.

He therefore encouraged journalists, civil society groups, political stakeholders and members of the public to follow the discussions as the PRP governorship candidate shares his vision for the future of Osun State.

He concluded that the Parley will be livestreamed via the association’s Facebook page for general public to watch and engage

BREAKING: Esa-Oke Youths Reunite as Survivors, Caution Pelumi against revisionism

....we’re not your campaign slogan Once upon a glorious, chaotic 2017, practically every able-bodied youth in Esa-Oke held honorary title in the land: Personal Assistant to Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi. No interviews. No pay. Just passion, blind loyalty, and the stamina to chase him from one campaign ground to the next like a political body double. From Comrade Mainframe to Comrade Swiss, from Yinka Oba to the humble football boys who carried cones like national flags, we were there. We were the movement. Until, of course. Now in 2025, Barrister Pelumi, clearly inspired by a Netflix political drama is on a media tour telling anyone who’ll listen that he "settled everyone who worked for him." Settled who, please? Maybe in his dreams or in the metaverse. In the real world, the story’s a bit different. Those of us from Obokun, who hustled day and night, got exactly zero: no thank you, no handshake. Take Sami, now a former Ward 7 councillor, no thanks from Pelumi. Folusho? Aregbe...

Assassination Attempt: Police can’t deny what’s on their desk, says Amotekun boss

The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps , High Chief Dr Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele , who is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital following an attempted assassination on his life on Monday, has strongly refuted the claims made by the Osun State Police Spokeperson regarding the incident. Reacting to the statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who claimed that investigations had not commenced because the Commander had not provided evidence of the attack, the Amotekun boss expressed deep disappointment, labeling the police response as insensitive and misleading. "It is shocking that a police spokesperson would say there is no evidence of an attack when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ota-Efun Division — the nearest jurisdiction to the incident — was immediately informed," the Commander said. "Officers from that division visited the scene the same night, assessed the damage, evacuated the vehicle, and advised me to seek ...
