  The Nigerian Army has uncovered and apprehended an individual identified as Alhaji Tijjani Abdul Rauf for allegedly impersonating a retired Major General and misleading members of the public through false military credentials. According to preliminary investigations, the suspect was never commissioned into the Nigerian Army at any time and did not attain the rank of General nor retire from the Service in any official capacity. Authorities further revealed that he fraudulently claimed to have attended the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru , and also falsely asserted that he was a recipient of the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR).   Ukrainian authorities say they have identified the bodies of two Nigerian nationals allegedly killed while fighting on the side of Russia in the ongoing war. According to a statement released by Defence Intelligence of Ukraine , military operatives discovered the remains in the Luhansk Region , an active frontline area in eastern Ukraine. The agency named the deceased as Hamzat Kazeen Kolawole, 42, and Mbah Stephen Udoka, 38. Ukrainian officials claimed both men had signed contracts with the armed forces of Russia in the latter part of 2025 and were deployed to combat units shortly afterward. The statement further alleged that the two did not undergo adequate military training before being sent to the battlefield.
