The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the reinstated local government council executives under the leadership of Honourable Samuel Idowu Abiodun-led Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) for prioritising security through the donation of 300 motorcycles to security agencies across the state.
In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC described the initiative as a bold and commendable step toward safeguarding lives and property, noting that it reflects a clear commitment to grassroots governance.
According to the party, the distribution plan, where each local government provides 10 motorcycles to be shared among the police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), vigilante groups, hunters, and community security outfits demonstrates strategic thinking and a people-centered approach to security.
The APC contrasted the development with what it described as the “wasteful and unproductive” era between November 2022 and February 2025, when PDP-backed local government chairmen allegedly focused more on convoys and official luxuries rather than grassroots impact.
The party further argued that the initiative exposes what it termed the “ineptitude” of Governor Ademola Adeleke, questioning how billions of naira in security votes have been expended without visible improvements in community safety.
“It is baffling that a state government with access to enormous security funds has failed to complement the efforts of security agencies, while local government councils, without control of the state are delivering tangible results,” the statement read.
The APC maintained that the performance of the reinstated council executives offers a glimpse of what the state could achieve under full APC leadership, insisting that governance at all levels should prioritize development and security.
While criticizing the current administration, the party also assured residents that more interventions are underway, particularly in strengthening local security architecture.
The statement concluded with optimism about the future, expressing confidence that the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), would deliver accelerated and balanced development if elected in the forthcoming governorship election.
