“Overthrow Is Not the Answer — Ex-Presidential Aspirant Ezendigbo Calls for Reform, Not Chaos”

 



Former presidential aspirant, Chief CBN Onwuasoanya Ezendigbo, in a brief interview with OrionTimes, emphasized that security remains the most critical pillar of national stability, stressing that adequate welfare and prompt payment of security personnel would significantly reduce corruption and bribery within the system.



According to Ezendigbo, insecurity often escalates when early warning signs are ignored. He advocated for strategic engagement of unemployed youths, noting that meaningful employment would enable them to live productive lives and reduce their vulnerability to crime. He also highlighted the importance of revitalizing agriculture, encouraging farmers to return fully to their fields while urging the police and armed forces to be more proactive and better treated in order to effectively defend Nigeria’s sovereignty.




He added that customs and immigration authorities must intensify their duties to ensure smoother and more secure cross-border movement.



Drawing comparisons with Western nations, Ezendigbo observed that many citizens abroad do not prioritize obtaining international passports because their domestic systems provide sufficient opportunities and stability. He questioned why a growing number of Nigerians feel compelled to seek opportunities outside the country, urging leaders to build a nation where citizens can thrive without feeling forced to leave.



Referencing ongoing global conflicts, he cautioned against the exploitation of vulnerable populations and stressed that Nigeria must become a model for other African nations. He called on Africans to think collectively about long-term progress rather than individual gain, emphasizing unity and shared responsibility for development.



Ezendigbo firmly rejected violence and unconstitutional power seizures, stating that killing and destruction only undermine national prosperity. “When we destroy our roads or public assets, we destroy our own future,” he noted, adding that sustainable progress can only be achieved through constructive action and accountability.



He concluded by reiterating his opposition to government overthrow and embezzlement of public funds, urging Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to work toward a radical but peaceful transformation of Africa’s global position through integrity, development, and cooperation.
