RE: Allegations Against Osun Amotekun Operatives Over Motorcycle Incident In Osogbo


The Osun State Amotekun Corps has dismissed as misleading and inaccurate the allegations circulating on social media claiming that its operatives recklessly pursued and forced a motorcyclist and his passenger into a roadside ditch in Osogbo.

According to the Corps, the viral video being referenced is not a recent occurrence. Authorities clarified that the footage dates back to December 19 and was recorded in the Lameco area of Osogbo.



The Corps explained that contrary to claims of reckless pursuit, the incident resulted from a traffic misjudgment by the motorcyclist, who allegedly attempted to overtake an Amotekun operational vehicle from the right while the security vehicle was maintaining its lane. The maneuver reportedly led to a collision.

Amotekun officials further stated that immediately after the incident, sympathizers at the scene appealed to the operatives, who then transported the injured individuals to a medical facility for treatment. The Corps noted that it took responsibility for the hospital bills and that the matter was amicably resolved at the time.

Describing the renewed circulation of the video as “unwarranted and mischievous,” the Corps alleged that the reposting appears intended to misinform the public and undermine the credibility of the state’s security outfit.

The Osun Amotekun Corps reiterated its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and the protection of lives and property across the state, urging members of the public to verify information through credible and official sources before drawing conclusions.
