On the final day of 2025, I learned a lesson that will linger well into the new year. 

As a street reporter, I have walked bustling roads and quiet corners, documenting stories of hope, struggle, and perseverance. Yet, it is often the quiet, deeply personal encounters that leave the most lasting impression.

That day, I met a man in his early sixties, a native of Benue State now residing in Osun. His voice carried the weight of many years, and his eyes reflected a restrained sadness. “I have never received a notable gift in my life,” he said softly. It was a simple statement, yet one laden with history, deprivation, and unmet emotional needs, a stark reminder of how many lives pass through the world unnoticed and uncelebrated.
