BREAKING: Sowore Releases Update on Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer

Human rights activist and pro-democracy campaigner, Omoyele Sowore, has issued an update concerning the ongoing detention of Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

According to Sowore, the bail application filed before Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’id of the Kuje Magistrate Court to secure the release of Ejimakor, his brother Emmanuel Fineboy Kanu, and one other person arrested during the historic #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest has been stalled.

Sowore explained that the delay arose from the Nigeria Police Force’s failure to file a counter affidavit and their absence in court. The motion for bail was also not listed for hearing.

He added that Magistrate Sai’id expressed helplessness over the situation when Barrister Maxwell Opara approached the registrar to seek clarification on the delay, despite the Magistrate’s earlier assurance to expedite the process once the police acknowledged service, which they reportedly initially

 dodged.
