World’s Science Storytellers Set to Converge in South Africa for WCSJ2025

The world’s leading science journalists, communicators, and innovators will converge in South Africa for the World Conference of Science Journalists (WCSJ2025), the largest global gathering of professionals shaping how humanity understands science.


Held every two years under the auspices of the World Federation of Science Journalists (WFSJ), the conference offers a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange, debate, and collaboration. Attendees will participate in seminars, workshops, and lectures featuring leading voices in science communication, with access to global expertise and practical training designed to inspire excellence in reporting.


Organisers promise an engaging, relevant, and stimulating programme, blending professional growth with opportunities to explore the country’s scientific, natural, and cultural heritage. Beyond its sessions, WCSJ2025 will ignite conversations around how science journalists can help societies build resilience amid pressing global challenges, from climate change to misinformation.


The event is jointly organised by the South African Science Journalists’ Association (SASJA) and the Science Diplomacy Capital for Africa (SDCfA), an initiative of South Africa’s Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), in collaboration with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).






SASJA, a non-profit national body representing science and technology journalists, continues to champion ethical science reporting and stronger bridges between the scientific community and the public. Through networking, training, and collaboration, it works to ensure that science journalism remains a trusted voice in an era of complex global narratives.



As anticipation builds, WCSJ2025 is set to reaffirm the power of storytelling in shaping the world’s understanding of science, one headline, one discovery, and one conversation at a time.
