Osun Killings: Omole Blasts Faceless Group, Accuses Osun Govt of Complicity in Attack on Sen. Fadahunsi

Comrade Omole Oluwasegun Omo-Osodi, founder and president of the Atunluse Asoludero Movement, a socio-political organization in Osun State, has strongly condemned the position of a group known as Concerned Citizens of Osun over the ongoing controversy involving the Osun State Amotekun Corps, describing the group as “faceless and politically sponsored.”

In a statement personally signed by him on Saturday, Omole accused the Osun State government of “exploiting discontented citizens in the name of politics” and called for an end to what he termed the manipulation of public opinion to protect individuals responsible for atrocities committed under the guise of security enforcement.

 “My attention has been drawn to a faceless and sponsored group that launched baseless attacks against Senator Francis Fadahunsi under the guise of ‘Fadahunsi’s Reckless Comment on Amotekun: A Shameful Abuse of Power and Arrogant Overreach.’

On any reasonable day, I would not respond to such faceless entities, but knowing that my constituents are reasonable and knowledgeable, I feel compelled to speak against this politics of bitterness,” Omole said.

He alleged that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke has “brought shame and a blatant abuse of power to Osun State,” adding that Senator Fadahunsi’s calm disposition has been exploited by “illiterates meddling with state affairs.”

 “Senator Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District and holds the highest political office in the area, will not allow thugs to endanger the lives of his constituents. Osun Amotekun has become a hideout for criminals and thugs,” Omole declared.

He expressed shock that any group would defend the Amotekun Corps, which he accused of “killing and terrorizing innocent Osun citizens since its inception under its current leadership.”

 “Where was this so-called Concerned Citizens group in February when innocent people were killed during the illegal local government elections? They were silent when over eleven law-abiding citizens in Ido-Ayegunle were murdered.

In February, we lost four persons in Ilesa and one in Ikire, with more than 25 others wounded by gunshots,” he recounted.

Omole also referenced the Esa-Oke Obaship crisis, noting that four lives were lost, including an elderly man whose head was severed and taken away, while twelve others were injured. He lamented that the Osun government has yet to bring those responsible to justice.

He further mentioned the Akinlalu attack in Ife North earlier this month, where four residents reportedly died and eight others were hospitalized following an Amotekun operation.

 “We call on the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, MNI, to immediately arrest the State Commander of Amotekun, who has terrorized market women, communities, and opposition figures. He must be transferred to Abuja to face murder charges, as there is still an outstanding case against him,” Omole demanded.

Describing Senator Fadahunsi as “the true voice of the masses,” Omole said no amount of intimidation or propaganda would silence the senator.

 “It is no exaggeration to say that Senator Fadahunsi remains the true voice of the masses and cannot be silenced by the state government. Both the PDP and Governor Adeleke must stop dragging Osun into unnecessary tension and political theatrics,” he stated.

Reacting to the Concerned Citizens of Osun’s claim that “the people of Osun stand firmly behind Amotekun, a symbol of homegrown security and community trust,” Omole fired back:

 “Who else but their paymasters and co-conspirators stand behind murderers?”

The group had also alleged that “true leaders build institutions while pretenders destroy them for self-glorification.”

Omole countered sharply, asserting that Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, OFR, is himself “an institution whose voice commands respect across Osun and Nigeria’s political space.”
