Olowu of Kuta Makes History, Becomes First Osun Monarch Inducted into Nigerian Book of Records Hall of Fame





In a landmark recognition of cultural leadership and national service, the Olowu of Kuta Kingdom, Osun State, His Royal Highness Oba Hammeed Adekunle Oyelude Makama, CON, Tegbosun III, has been officially inducted into the prestigious Nigerian Book of Records Hall of Fame.


The induction ceremony, held at the Owu-Kuta Palace, was led by the Director-General of the Nigerian Book of Records, Dr. David David, who praised the monarch for his “significant and enduring contributions to national development, cultural advancement, and the promotion of African heritage.”


“This recognition is not just symbolic,” Dr. David noted. “It is a celebration of a royal figure who has made Nigeria proud through his leadership, advocacy for tradition, and tireless development efforts. He is the first personality in Osun State to receive this honour.”

Highlighting the scope of Oba Oyelude’s impact, the Director-General remarked, “The Olowu of Kuta stands tall as a beacon of community development and a custodian of heritage. His influence goes beyond Kuta, touching the heart of Nigeria and the continent at large.”

In his acceptance speech, Oba Oyelude expressed deep gratitude for the honour. “I am humbled by this recognition. It is not only a personal achievement but a testament to the collective commitment of my people and fellow traditional rulers to the growth of our community and nation,” he said. “We will double our efforts for the good of all.”

Representing the Osun State Governor, the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Mr. Kehinde Alabi, commended the honour, describing it as “a reflection of the monarch’s exemplary leadership and patriotism.”

“The Olowu’s recognition will undoubtedly inspire many to pursue excellence and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s growth,” Alabi stated.

The event was graced by an array of dignitaries, including Hon. Justice Olajide, Professor Oguntola Alamu, Engr. Dele Akintola (Director, World Institute of Peace), and prominent traditional rulers such as the Olu of Ile-Ogbo, Oba Hamid Adetoyese; the Eburu of Iba, Prof. Adekunle; and the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal (Laminusa II).

Cultural groups such as the Big Brothers Club and the Ola-Ore Group added colour to the occasion with performances in honour of the Olowu, making the historic moment both dignified and festive.

With this induction, the Olowu of Kuta has etched his name in the annals of Nigerian history, not only as a royal father but as a torchbearer for national transformation and cultural pride.
