Prof. Femi Olufunmilade: Powering Nigeria’s Next Revolution—Naija Changemakers Ignite a New Era of Leadership
Naija Changemakers is a pioneering political movement dedicated to revolutionizing Nigeria's political landscape. Our vision is to empower a new generation of leaders who embody competence, integrity, and a progressive mindset.
Key Objectives:
1. Decent and Competent Leadership:
We aim to present Nigerians with leaders who are driven by a desire to serve, rather than personal gain. Our leaders will be chosen based on their merit, expertise, and commitment to national development.
2. Ending Corrupt Practices:
We seek to eliminate the corrupt practices that have plagued Nigeria's electoral process, including exorbitant nomination fees, vote-buying, and the buying of delegates. By doing so, we hope to attract decent and patriotic citizens hitherto aloof from politics, and create a level playing field for all aspirants.
3. Gender Equality:
We are committed to promoting gender equality in governance. Our movement advocates for the appointment of women to at least 50% of positions in government and the private sector, recognizing that women constitute half of Nigeria's population and play a critical role in nation-building.
4. True Federalism:
Naija Changemakers champions the cause of true federalism, which may involve a return to a parliamentary system of government. We believe this will allow for more efficient governance, regional autonomy, and accelerated development.
5. Accelerated Development through Scientific National Planning:
We will prioritize evidence-based planning and policy-making, leveraging data and expertise to drive national development. This approach will enable us to identify and address key challenges, optimize resource allocation, and achieve sustainable growth.
6. Regional Collaboration:
We propose that states with similar interests and objectives should be allowed to collaborate and pool resources to drive development. This will help reduce bureaucracy and enhance the delivery of essential services.
Our Approach:
To achieve our objectives, Naija Changemakers is exploring two options:
1. Registering a New Party:
We are working towards registering a new political party that embodies our vision and values. This party will serve as a platform for like-minded Nigerians to contest elections and shape the country's future.
2. Partnering with Like-Minded Organizations:
Alternatively, we may partner with smaller parties or organizations that share our vision. By working together, we can build a stronger, more united front for change.
Call to Action:
Naija Changemakers invites all Nigerians who share our vision for a better country to join us. Together, we can build a movement that will transform Nigeria's political landscape and usher in a new era of leadership. Whether you're a young leader, a concerned citizen, or a seasoned politician, we need your support and participation to achieve our goals.
Let’s work together to create a Nigeria that is more just, equitable, and prosperous for all. Join the movement today and be part of shaping the future of our great nation.
Sincerely,
Prof. Femi Olufunmilade
Convener, Naija Changemakers
